Please introduce yourself so our audience can learn more about you and your team?
We are Blockdevs.Asia, a blockchain developer community based in Metro Manila, Philippines. The community is headed by 4 volunteer developers and we always welcome more blockchain enthusiasts.
We regularly organize meetups and hackathons in which we introduce and learn about blockchain technologies from a developer point of view. We organize developer meetups every 2 weeks, and our next hackathon is coming up soon.
Could you tell us a bit more about your upcoming Blockchain event and how it benefits IOST?
Our upcoming hackathon is going to be held on April 6-7 2019 at BlockchainSpace in Makati ( https://dish2019.com). We will be supporting 3 blockchain technologies with mentorship and boilerplate code (Ethereum, Stellar, IOST).
This event will expose more Filipino developers to IOST. At the same time, they will be given an opportunity to build something with it which can be showcased later on. This will give us more insights on where IOST needs improvement before it can be adopted by developers and also highlight what its distinct strengths are.
With the gained knowledge we can make a clear roadmap for Block Devs Asia on which tooling needs to be created and how we can reach more developers and teach them how to use IOST in there software stack.
What strengths do you bring to the IOST ecosystem?
Blockdevs Asia is run by experienced developers who love to explore new technologies, their application (tokenomics) and sharing this with others. With our growing reach within the blockchain developer community in the Philippines, we are constantly growing fast in number and quality.
Can you tell us about your plans to contribute and help grow the IOST ecosystem?
We see IOST as a blockchain platform that’s easy to start with and continually use but it’s still full-featured when it comes to smart contracts. We plan to use IOST in our community (open-source) projects and education.
The Filipino developer and student community is quite sizeable so we expect to grow the number of developers using IOST in the Philippines significantly. Aside from this, being a Validator means we will be able to expand our activities while representing Filipino IOST holders and users.
What are you most excited about for IOST in the next 6 months?
A stable mainnet, of course is the first necessity. After that, it would be ideal if the tooling, documentation and developer support will be optimized even more so that anyone can easily get started. Those are very important factors to consider for a wide scale adoption.
Anything else you would like to add to this interview?
Blockdevs Asia is honored and thrilled to be part of the birth of a new blockchain platform. Having Terry visit us in Manila and explain IOST to us was an awesome experience. So far it’s going great and we’re hoping for a fruitful and seamless partnership that benefits us all!
Many Thanks to Amadeo from Blockdevs Asia for taking time out to do this interview.
