IOST Venezuela is an interdisciplinary group of people who think that Crypto and Blockchain technologies can be the solutions for the many challenges that undeveloped countries like Venezuela have.
Founded by Alberto Guerrero Montilla, a political and business leader who graduated in political science in Venezuela and then Business and Marketing in Barcelona. He has lived in 7 different countries in the past decade and speaks 4 languages, having to endure the hardship of exile due to the dictatorship in Venezuela.
All these years have been a a gathering of experience to create a holistic plan to save the future of his home country through the benefits and opportunities of this technological revolution.
How do you think IOST and Crypto will reach mass adoption?
The goal for us is usability, mass adoption is only possible when we think of this tech as more than financial ecosystems and more like a new kind of internet.
IOST is a platform for the development of DAPPs, if we create the tools that are actually useful for the average person to use then mass adoption is inevitable. IOST must be the layer to build all the tools to reimagine the possibilities of our digital interactions, applications that can be of interest of all the people on the internet and not only crypto users.
How will you educate the Crypto community on the benefits of IOST?
Our mission is to put the tools in the hands of the people. Many people think that we need to reinvent the wheel, the reality is that many of the solutions for adoption are just to educate the user on using the tech that already exists.
We are promoters and educators and what we do is to show people the tangible benefits of using the blockchain as a new dimension of the internet and global communications.
I see you are already a Block Producer for EOS and Telos as well as being a Steemit Witness. What challenges have you found along the way being a Block Producer for these chains?
One of the main challenges is to convince investors and big stake holders that these platforms are much more than just investments and money vehicles. We call ourselves “the social side of the Blockchain” because the impact we can have through it can have a much bigger social impact than economic. This tech can reimagine how society and government see their roles, the way we can create jobs, how we push education to the masses and much more.
Our vision is to convince people that we can do good to the world beyond buying and selling Crypto.
Can you explain more on your plan to become the social side of Blockchain?
Our social mission is to foster ideas that can impact peoples lives beyond the concept of digital money. We believe that educating people to use this tech as a new kind of internet will bring many more opportunities and adoption than just telling them to buy and sell Crypto.
We created a program that channels donations in Crypto to provide poor families with a basic income while they learn how to use the new Crypto economy. This creates adoption from the bottom-up which has a bigger impact than just giving away money. We show young people how coding can offer them the possibility to aspire to a new life in places where jobs are hard to find, due to the global reach of the blockchain.
The possibilities are infinite and we believe that technology is at a point where we can reinvent the way our society works through an uncensored, decentralized and free economy.
What are you most excited about for IOST?
We are very excited about the new kind of consensus that the IOST technology is putting to test, innovation is the key word for this project. Taking what predecessors have done and improving it to be able to reach the ultimate goal of mass adoption. Finally setting free the revolution that Crypto and Blockchain presents to the world.
IOST Venezuela have put together a very useful guide on how to setup a IOST Servi Node here
Many Thanks to Alberto from IOST Venezuela for taking time out to do this interview.
